We are thrilled to announce that Zhanna Sarsenbayeva, a PhD Candidate in the Interaction Design Lab, has been awarded the Diane Lemaire Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a female PhD student in the Melbourne School of Engineering, in honour of Diane Lemaire, the first female Engineering student to graduate from The University of Melbourne in 1942.

The recipient must be at least 6-months into her PhD candidature and demonstrate the highest standards of research potential and project planning. The scholarship is intended to support the realisation of this project, and enhance the student’s research process.

Zhanna received her Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) from University College London in the UK. She then completed her Master of Science (Computer Science and Engineering) at the University of Oulu, in Finland. Zhanna’s most recent academic expedition has led her to study in the Interactive Design Lab, where she is now completing her Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering).

We look forward to seeing Zhanna explore her research interests in Ubiquitous Computing and Human-Computer Interaction further, with the support of her latest achievement in receiving this scholarship.
